The 6th Brompton World Championship was held on Sunday 21st August, in glorious sunshine; for the fourth year in a row it was held as part of the Breast Cancer Care Bike Blenheim Palace Festival of Cycling.
The event was reputedly the best yet, with nearly 8000 people attending the festival as a whole. The Brompton World Championship saw 673 of the 750 registrants making it to the start line, this is without doubt the biggest turn out to date!
The event was held over the same circuit as in previous years, comprising 2 laps of a 6.5km course; the 2011 Brompton World Champion, Michael Hutchinson, set the fastest time on the course yet with a time of 21:15. Rachael Elliott succeeded in securing the title of Fastest Female for the second year in a row, with a time of 23:35, improving on her previous time by nearly two minutes.
